Our pupils excel in 2022 A-level results

Our pupils have achieved an excellent set of A-Level results this year. Over 75% were awarded A*-B, with 30% at A*, and there was a 100% pass rate.

As with musical studies at the School, academics at YMS focus on high standards, and these results demonstrate the School’s commitment and success in achieving all-round outstanding education.

Our Headmaster, Ben Gudgeon, said “This is an exceptional achievement, and we are especially pleased that the hard work our pupils have put into their academic study has been rewarded with excellent grades, particularly as this has been combined with a wonderful summer season of concerts. This cohort has also been affected by COVID and spent a considerable amount of time studying for their A-level subjects online, from many different countries around the world. These results speak of the power of music to bolster academic study.”

Over half of the Year 13 pupils will stay on for a further year to focus on their musical studies. Our leavers will be going on to study at world-leading conservatoires including the University of Music ‘Hanns Eisler’ in Berlin, The Julliard School in New York, University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, The Royal College of Music in London, and the University of Cambridge.

If you, or someone you know, is interested in studying at the School and following in the footsteps of our leaving pupils, there will be an Opening Morning on Friday 14 October 2022. Prospective students, teachers, parents, and guardians are all welcome and can register online.
