Bursaries

Yehudi Menuhin’s vision was that no pupil should ever have to turn down a place at the School due to lack of finances. Nearly 60 years on, we remain faithful to that ethos: pupils are admitted to the School based on their talent and potential, not their ability to pay the fees.

Our parents come from all walks of life, from shop assistants to teachers, musicians to small business owners. Every year, nine out of ten pupils need financial assistance to attend the School.

The School is fortunate to receive generous support from the Department for Education (DfE) through the Music and Dance Scheme (MDS), which provides support to many students at the School according to their financial means. However, not all children are eligible, and The Yehudi Menuhin School aims to support the remainder through funds donated by individuals, companies and charitable foundations.

Bursaries are awarded based on financial need, and can range from as little as 10% to 100% of fees. With the average current bursary standing at 79% of fees, however, we need to raise in excess of £650,000 every year in order to meet the need.

By supporting our Bursary Fund, you can make a very real difference to the lives of children who show extraordinary musical potential, and who will greatly benefit from a Yehudi Menuhin School education.
