Leave a Gift in Your Will

Remembering The Yehudi Menuhin School in your will can help us to provide transformational opportunities for pupils and our community. As little as 1% of your estate can make a big difference and all you need to include us in your Will is our registered charity number and name.

Legacies have enabled us to fulfil many goals including providing bursaries for children who would have otherwise been unable to attend the School, the creation of a suite of Music Studios for rehearsing and practising, adding more boarding places at Harris House and the development of The Menuhin Hall into a world-class performance venue. All of this was made possible thanks to the critical contributions of legacies.

Legacies made to the school for general purposes are greatly appreciated, as they allow us to direct funds towards those areas of greatest need and seize opportunities as they arise. However, we are very happy to discuss particular areas of support that would mean the most to you. As your Will is one of the most important documents you will ever make, we recommend that you consult your legal advisers before drafting a new Will, updating an existing one or making other plans for your estate.

The Yehudi Menuhin School is a registered charity (charity number 312010) and all legacies made to the school are exempt from UK Inheritance and Capital Gains Taxes. Under current rules, if you leave 10% or more of your chargeable net estate to charity, the Inheritance Tax rate on the whole of your taxable estate is reduced from 40% to 36%.

Leaving items to the School

We are often bequeathed musical instruments and items such as recordings and sheet music from individuals who share our passion for music. Whilst we are very grateful for donations, it is often the case that we cannot accept them, due to restrictions on space and the specific needs of the School at the time. If you would like to include musical instruments or other objects in your will to bequeath to The Yehudi Menuhin School, please contact us before writing them in so that we can discuss the best course of action with you.

Join the 1963 Society

The 1963 Society brings together those of our donors who have told us that they intend to include a Gift to the School in their will. We host an annual 1963 Society event at the School, which gives us the opportunity to say thank you in person and to update you on our plans for the future.
