We were delighted to welcome back to The Menuhin Hall last night the clarinettist Emma Johnson and pianist John Lenehan for a programme of works by Saint-Saens, Brahms and Poulenc, together with Mozart's Kegelstatt Trio, in which they were joined by 18-year-old YMS student Bennet Ortmann (viola).

A packed audience responded warmly to Emma's vivacious stage presence and engaging playing - and were particularly appreciative of the Benny Goodman encore, where both clarinettist and pianist showed their versatility to wonderful effect. An evening to remember - not least for Bennet who acquitted himself admirably in such exalted company.
