John Cooney, Head of Composition, launched our Composition Workshop project for this academic year with the first of a series of visits with local secondary schools. We were pleased to welcome pupils from Howard of Effingham, Ashcombe, Therfield, St Andrew's Leatherhead, Oxted, Gordon's, Kendrick's School (Reading) and Cobham Free School.
John gave a talk on the basics of composing for strings, and then a few of our pupils joined groups of students from the other schools to explore and demonstrate technique and theory.
This visit was part of an outreach project that will run throughout the year.
