We were delighted to return to Clare Hall at Cambridge University after a gap of four years to perform in their Intimate Engagements series, curated by Abigail Dolan, wife of YMS Classical Improvisation teacher David Dolan. A full and appreciative house were treated not just to a programme of chamber music, with quartets by Haydn and Schubert and Enescu's wonderful and enthralling Octet, but also to a practical demonstration of the way in which David encourages the pupils to develop a deeper understanding of the music through improvisation.

Cambridge looked characteristically beautiful in the sunshine, with the added drama of a graduation taking place in the Senate House, and some of the pupils took the chance to join the tourists along the banks of the Cam, as you can see!
