This year marks the centenary of the birth of Yehudi Menuhin, and this year’s Wigmore Hall concert given by pupils of the Menuhin School pays special tribute to its founder.

The programme will include a performance of Bartόk’s Sonata for solo violin, which was commissioned by and premiered by Menuhin, and opens and closes with the music of J S Bach, whose music was so important to the great violinist throughout his career.

The programme will also include music by Fauré, Chopin as well as George Benjamin’s wonderfully virtuosic Viola, Viola.

The concert, which is held annually, is an opportunity for pupils to showcase their skills in a professional setting outside of the school environment and in a hall renowned internationally for its acoustics as a chamber music venue.
