Fifty-odd Friends of the School - and a good number of pupils and staff - were very happy to take advantage of the opportunity to attend an exclusive Friends-only event in The Menuhin Hall this week.

The School's two principal cello teachers, Thomas Carroll and Bartholomew LaFollette, both of them also former pupils at the School, were interviewed on stage by Headmaster Dr Richard Hillier about life before, during and after the Menuhin School. It was particularly fascinating to hear their memories of their auditions and first days at the School, as well as how they now combine their teaching at YMS with their busy schedules as professional performers.

An added treat was the chance to hear Tommy and Bart playing together the Duo by Jean-Baptiste Barrière, followed by Karl Popper's Requiem, in which they were joined by YMS student Jean-François Carrière and staff pianist Nigel Hutchison.

And the Friends certainly seemed to enjoy another excellent lunch served up by chef Jean Labourg and his team.
