News Story

We are excited to once again host our residential Summer School, building on the success of last year’s inaugural programme. This year’s offering will run across two five-day courses: 20–25 July and 27 July–1 August 2026.

Exciting new opportunities for 2026 include a guest masterclass with internationally renowned violinist and Yehudi Menuhin School alumna, Tasmin Little CBE, alongside a new optional conducting course led by Matthew Taylor.

Programme Highlights

  • Individual Instrumental Lessons: Participants will receive personalised tuition from the school’s distinguished faculty, focusing on technique, interpretation and performance skills.
  • Chamber Music, Orchestra and Choir: Students will engage in ensemble playing, orchestral projects and choral sessions, fostering collaboration and broadening their musical perspectives.
  • Workshops and Seminars: The course includes classes in general musicianship, aural skills and harmony, alongside seminars covering audition and exam preparation, performance anxiety management and musicians’ wellbeing.
  • Performance Opportunities: In addition to hearing performances by Menuhin School staff, participants will showcase their progress in a final ensemble concert at the School’s renowned 300-seat Menuhin Hall.
  • NEW: Conducting Course (Optional): Led by Matthew Taylor, this new addition offers students an introduction to conducting, providing valuable insight into musical leadership and deepening their understanding of ensemble playing.
  • NEW: Guest Artist Masterclass: Participants will have the opportunity to work with internationally acclaimed violinist and Menuhin School alumna, Tasmin Little CBE, in a special masterclass given during Course 2 (27 July – 1 August).

Tasmin Little CBE commented: “Opportunities like this are incredibly important for young musicians. Not only do they provide a chance to learn and grow artistically, but they also bring together like-minded individuals who share a passion for music. That sense of community, inspiration and mutual support can be transformative at this stage of a musician’s journey, and I’m delighted to be part of this year’s Summer School.”
