Summer School 2026

We are delighted to announce that our Summer School will return in 2026. 

Due to the success of our inaugural course in 2025, we will now offer two courses, each providing a similar programme. 

Course 1 (20 – 25 July) offers tuition for violin, viola, cello, harp, piano and composition. 

Course 2 (27 July – 1 August) offers tuition for violin, viola, cello, double bass, classical guitar, piano and composition. 

Led by the music staff of YMS, the courses will feature:

• Instrumental lessons
• Concerts (both for participants and given by YMS staff)
• Chamber music
• Orchestra
• Choir
• Academic music seminars
• Workshops on wellbeing and exam preparation

Participants will have the opportunity to learn and perform alongside a talented group of like-minded young people and enjoy a taste of what life is like as a pupil here. Students will leave the programme not only as better musicians but also with newfound confidence, collaboration skills, and lifelong memories.

The courses will be held exclusively onsite at our campus in leafy Surrey with its purpose-built 300-seat concert hall and state-of-the-art teaching studios, along with plentiful leisure facilities including a tennis court and indoor swimming pool.

Both courses are designed for children aged 11 to 16 with a minimum standard of Grade 5 (ABRSM or equivalent) on any of the following instruments:

• Violin, viola, cello, double bass
• Harp
• Classical guitar
• Piano

Students studying composition may also apply.

Places are available on both a residential and non-residential basis.
