Gergana Raykova

Gergana joined the faculty of the Yehudi Menuhin School in 2011, initially as the assistant to the renowned pedagogue Natasha Boyarsky. Since then, she has established herself as an accomplished and inspiring violin teacher, working alongside some of today’s most distinguished musicians and educators. In recent years, she has also stepped in to teach on behalf of Boris Brovtsyn and Alex Redington, further reflecting her versatility and authority in the profession.

Throughout her career, Gergana has nurtured a generation of exceptional young musicians. Her students and alumni have collectively won well over twenty international competitions and awards, including six major international violin competitions - the Queen Elizabeth Competition, the Menuhin Competition, the Joseph Joachim Violin Competition, Sibelius Violin Competition and the International Violin Competitions of Indianapolis and Montreal.

Many of her students have gone on to receive full scholarships to the Juilliard School, the Royal College of Music, and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Others have continued their studies at leading academies across Berlin, Vienna, Kronberg, and other distinguished musical institutions throughout Europe and the United States. Her alumni are now represented by major artist managements across Europe and Asia, perform alongside internationally acclaimed musicians, and hold teaching positions at some of Europe’s most respected conservatoires.

Originally from Bulgaria, Gergana distinguished herself early on, participating in and winning numerous competitions in her country. She later continued her education in London, where she earned both her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the Royal College of Music, supported by scholarships from the Royal College of Music and the Richard Carne Trust. She studied under the guidance of Natasha Boyarsky and Natalia Lomeiko, who helped shape her artistic and pedagogical philosophy.

As a performer, Gergana has appeared in some of the United Kingdom’s most celebrated venues, including the Royal Albert Hall and other major concert halls in London. Most recently, she has performed at Windsor Castle and the Menuhin Hall, collaborating with the school’s composer-in-residence, Sally Beamish. Her performances reflect both her depth as an artist and her continuing connection to the vibrant musical life of the Yehudi Menuhin School.
