A message from the Head

Kate Clanchy, Head

I am delighted to introduce you to our exceptional school.

Yehudi Menuhin recognised the need to provide musically gifted children with excellent instrumental teachers, adequate time for practice, frequent opportunities for performance, a variety of ensemble work and a broad range of other music activities, together with a stimulating and creative academic programme.

Set on a beautiful 18-acre site just outside London, YMS provides a holistic musical and academic education for around 85 musically gifted children aged from 8 to 19 from all over the world. We offer specialist tuition on the violin, viola, cello, double bass, piano, classical guitar and harp, in a supportive and caring family environment.

The Menuhin Hall, our 300-seat concert hall, is the venue for regular showcase and celebrity concerts and our renowned week-long Summer Festival. Its superb acoustic makes it the recording studio of choice for many artists.

It is the School's ambition to be 'needs-blind' in its admissions process. Over 90% of pupils receive some form of financial aid on a means-tested basis, either from the government’s Music and Dance Scheme or from the School’s own Bursary Fund.

I hope you enjoy browsing this site. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like any more information about the Menuhin School, or if you would like to come and visit.

We look forward to welcoming you.
