A legacy gift to The Yehudi Menuhin School can help us to provide transformational
opportunities for pupils, staff and communities alike.
- Legacies have provided bursaries to children who would have otherwise been unable to attend the School and enabled them to go on to fulfilling and successful musical careers.
- The creation of additional boarding places at Harris House in 1996, and the development of The Menuhin Hall into a world class performance venue were only possible because of legacy donations.
- The much-needed suite of Music Studios for rehearsing and practising has also only been possible thanks to the critical contributions of legacies.
Unrestricted legacy gifts to The Yehudi Menuhin School support areas of greatest priority. Our current fund is able to support five full- time-equivalent pupils. Our vision is to support twenty or more full-time-equivalent pupils each year in perpetuity, as well as other areas as they arise
As your Will is one of the most important documents you will ever make, The Yehudi Menuhin School recommends that you consult your legal advisers before drafting a new Will, updating an existing one or making other plans for your estate. Sample codicil wording is provided on this downloadable PDF.
The Yehudi Menuhin School is a registered charity (charity number 312010) and, accordingly, all legacies made to the school are exempt from UK Inheritance and Capital Gains Taxes. Under current rules, if you leave 10% or more of your chargeable net estate to charity, the Inheritance Tax rate on the whole of your taxable estate is reduced from 40% to 36%.
