Programmes which take music out into the community
Lord Menuhin was committed to taking music out into the community so that it might bring comfort, inspiration and hope. At present the School works with schools and special needs pupils, hospitals, care homes and hospices in the local community but much more can be done to extend its reach. More local schoolchildren from areas of deprivation could benefit by working with our pupils. To date, local school children undertaking GCSEs and A Levels in Music have worked closely with YMS pupils in preparing their works of composition for performances and recording.
“Some children at our school are stunned to hear their own compositions performed by to such a high standard by YMS musicians. It boosts their confidence and self-esteem greatly and raises their levels of aspiration to entirely new levels.”
